Doctor Feelgoode’s Hot Tub Purchase FAQ’s
Hot tubs come in a variety of styles, with various seating choices, options, and features. Before you start shopping, think about what matters most: What is your main reason for buying a hot tub? How many people will use it? How much space do you have? What's your budget? Knowing these key details will help you find the perfect hot tub.
What is your main reason for buying a hot tub?
Some of those reasons can include:
Health and Wellness Benefits
-
Stress Relief: Soaking in hot water is a proven method for unwinding after a long day, helping to reduce anxiety and promote mental relaxation.
-
Muscle Recovery: The combination of heat and targeted hydrotherapy jets can alleviate muscle soreness, stiffness, and tension, which is great after exercise or physical work.
-
Improved Sleep: Using a hot tub shortly before bed can help regulate body temperature, making it easier to fall asleep faster and achieve deeper rest.
-
Arthritis and Joint Pain: Warm water immersion can reduce pressure on joints and improve circulation, offering temporary relief for those suffering from arthritis or chronic pain.
Lifestyle and Social Reasons
-
Entertainment Hub: A hot tub provides a unique social setting for connecting with friends and family year-round, regardless of the weather.
-
Year-Round Enjoyment: Unlike swimming pools, hot tubs can be used comfortably in the cold winter months, offering a warm escape.
-
Dedicated "Me Time": It provides a personal sanctuary for quiet reflection or enjoying a clear night sky.
Home and Value
-
Convenience: Having a spa just steps away in your backyard means no driving to a public gym or spa facility.
-
Potential Home Value Add: While not as significant as an inground pool, a high-quality, well-maintained hot tub can be an attractive amenity to potential homebuyers.
-
Aesthetic Appeal: With modern designs and landscaping, a hot tub can become a beautiful, integrated feature of your outdoor living space.
How much does a hot tub cost?
Our hot tubs start at $6,000. The prices vary depending on size, features, materials, and brand.
What makes one hot tub more expensive than the other?
Hot tub prices vary due to differences in materials, features, efficiency, and brand. Premium models offer advanced features, better insulation, and higher durability, contributing to a higher cost.
How big should my hot tub be?
The ideal hot tub size depends on the number of people that you anticipate using it, and the space that you have available. Smaller models seat 2-3 people, while larger ones can accommodate 6-8, balancing comfort and practicality. Larger tubs are better for entertaining, while smaller ones offer a more intimate experience. Comfort and layout matter too.
How many hot tub jets do I need?
The number of jets you need depends on your personal preferences and desired massage experience. More jets provide a more intense massage, while fewer jets may offer a gentler, relaxing soak. Consider comfort over quantity.
Do I need a spa with a lounge?
A spa with a lounge offers a reclined seat for full-body relaxation, perfect for those who enjoy stretching out. However, it reduces seating capacity, so consider your preferences and usage needs.
Are hot tubs covered by health insurance?
Hot tubs may be covered by health insurance if prescribed as medical equipment for specific conditions, such as arthritis or chronic pain. Coverage varies by provider and policy, so it’s best to consult your provider and insurer.

What are the warranties on your hot tubs?
Our warranties vary depending on the hot tub brand, but in general our warranties are some of the best in the business. Stop in to our store, or call and talk to one of our associates for more details.
How much maintenance will my hot tub require?
Hot tub maintenance is minimal with modern advancements. You’ll need to check the water’s chemical balance weekly, clean filters monthly, and refill periodically, depending on your water care system.
What are the ongoing costs of owning a hot tub?
Ongoing hot tub costs include electricity, water care, and maintenance. The monthly energy costs vary by location and climate, while water care typically costs $20 per month for traditional methods. Choosing energy-efficient features and regular maintenance can help minimize expenses.
How do I choose the right spa chemicals for my hot tub?
To choose the right spa chemicals, start by testing your water’s pH, alkalinity, hardness, and chlorine levels. You’ll need chemicals like pH adjusters, chlorine for sanitation, and calcium removers if necessary. Use a pre-filter to reduce metals and calcium for better water quality. We can recommend proper spa chemicals that allow you to keep your spa water balanced and ready for your next soak. Consult your owner’s manual for guidance on maintaining your spa water and caring for your spa.
What are hot tub installation requirements?
To install a hot tub, ensure there is a level, solid surface such as a concrete pad, reinforced deck, or spa pad. The installation location should be easily accessible (for delivery), and the electrical service usually requires a 220V GFCI circuit. A garden hose is used to fill the tub, and plumbing is not necessary.
Where should I place my spa?
Place your spa on a level, stable surface like a concrete pad or reinforced deck. Ensure the location is easily accessible for installation and future maintenance. The further it is from your main electrical panel, the more expensive the electrical circuit and wiring will be.
Should I put a hot tub in a basement?
Placing a hot tub in your basement (or anywhere inside) requires careful consideration, such as ensuring proper ventilation, access for delivery and maintenance, and adequate flooring support. Additionally, moisture control is crucial to prevent damage. It’s essential to plan for electrical connections and plumbing, which may involve specialized installation.
